The Word Made Flesh: The Artwork of Stephen Tuomala
The Word Made Flesh is a series of figurative drawings on Bible text. These works explore the anatomy of the body by distorting depictions of anatomical medical images and setups. Distorting the display of these dissections, cross sections and corpses raises questions about our actual knowledge of the body verses perceptions of the body. Combining these drawings together with Bible text questions beliefs and meanings of the body relating to its function and purpose.
